Pre-render with transparent background?

I want to pre-render a jpeg (not full screen) with an alpha (transparent) background.

Any tips much appreciated.

I realise I could mask out or chroma key the background once it's rendered.

Just worked it out.. Render to uncompressed avi with alpha channel ticked
