rendering 720x486 widescreen???

Okay guys, this is driving me batty. No matter what I do, I can't get this thing to render in "widescreen"

All sources are 16x9 sources except for two photos that I pan up and down.

My project settings are DV Widescreen. Pixel ratio 1.2121

The preview window looks just fine.

This is where it gets tricky:

The destination requires a file that is 720x486. So in my settings I go into custom, and select 720x486. The pixel ratio is still 1.2121 but I still end up with a 4:3 final product.

I tried changing project settings to custom (720x486 and 1.2121) but had the same result.

I've tried checking and unchecking the "Stretch video to fill output frame size" but that didn't help.

Any ideas what I could've missed?

Thanks!

Once you select your setting in video (and audio) you've got to save it...the little save icon to the right of each selection window. Cheers.

No luck there either. I tried changing the pixel aspect ratio to something like 1.43 and there was no change there either. It's as if it's ignoring that setting for some reason.

WMV works, just not AVI!

Under RENDER AS, you gotta deselect(as in un-tick) STRETCH VIDEO TO FILL OUTPUT FRAME SIZE

No dice there either. As long as it's set to 720x486, it seems to ignore pixel aspect ratio.

I just tried setting it to "DV widesreen" and I rendered just fine, 720x480, pixel aspect ratio 1.2121.

I need to use the file with a piece of hardware that requires 720x486.

Try going into your clips' "pan and crop" controls and turn off "maintain aspect".
