Pan and Zoom
I am using VMS Platinum 8.0 and was wondering how to Pan and Zoom a still picture? I know you can add filters, but I would like the still pictures to move in and out or zoon in or out. Is there anyway you can do this?

not sure of the limitations or availabily in vegas studio...i have never used the studio version...
but if the studio version has the Pan/Crop button on each event...by using keyframe animation in the Pan/Crop window you can zoom in and out move left to right whatever on a still image...one of my faves of the vegas set up... |
It appears that the Movie Studio versions do include Pan/Crop. It may be limited to two keyframes, though (one at the beginning and one at the end). That should let you do whatever panning and zooming you need to do. If two keyframes are not enough, you can always upgrade to the pro version.

Matt, can you explain how to do this? I clicked on the Pan/Zoom button but can't figure out how to get any further
Thanks Gary |
i'll try to make sense...will do a real simple zoom
let's say you have a still image...default is probably 5 seconds on the timeline... click pan/crop to open it up... have cursor at beginning of event/image...:00...your first default keyframe is at :00... move cursor to end of image or close to edge...4:28 then grab the handles in pan/crop and zoom in on image...up to you how far you want to zoom in...that automatically creates an ending keyframe at that cursor position... playback and you should see it zoom in from :00 to end of event... |
You might take a look at Vol 1 #8 of my newsletters which gives a full description on how to create a motion slideshow via pan/crop (complete with images).

Matt & Ed,
BIG help, thanks Guys Gary |
Pan & Zoom
I have VMS Platinum 7 and you can pan and zoom with it, I would think you can in V8 also. So far I have added 3 and 4 key frames. Zoomed in Panned across and then zoomed out. Works beautifully when you have your picture set at a longer duration like 15 sec. you get a real nice slow pan and zoom effect. Follow Edward's advice and use the newsletter, that’s how I learned.
