Best Quality to Burn
 

I want to burn a wedding on DVD, I am using VMS Plat. Which rendering setting would give me the best quality DVD? I have heard that Mpeg 2 is the best but not sure. Any Help?

DVDs *ARE* MPEG2. The "Movie Studio" versions don't let you change the bitrates (the "Custom" button is inactive) but that may not matter depending on the length of your video. Vol 1 #7 and Vol 4 #1 of my newsletters have full details on the process. Generally speaking:

1. Render the video to the proper DVD Architect preset (and proper bitrate)
2. Render the audio to AC3 or WAV.
3. Give both of these files to DVD Architect to create the DVD.

On your point #2, if I have added mp3 audio to the video, should I render the audio to mp3, or to ac3, or to wav? I assume wav is the least compressed, followed by ac3, and mp3 is the most compressed.

DVDA loves AC3 and if you name the AC3 and MPG with the same name (just different extensions-.ac3 and .mpg) when you pull the clip into DVDA they will both come in together.

WAV is the least compressed. Unless you tell it otherwise, no matter what format you give it, DVD Architect will convert it to AC3. You don't wan't mp3 as that highly compressed audio would then be decompressed and then REcompressed into AC3 giving you a slight quality hit.
