30p video

I try to edit 30p video captured from Canon HV30 (set to 30p); it is strobe like (basically no different than 24p although it has 20% more frames); I use setting HDV 60i with field order to progersive and blending frames. Looks bad. I tried to use NeoHD but it is useful only with 24p 3.2 pulldown removal; Any advice would be appreciated.
P.S. In general whe do you film in 30p? (besides distribution for the internet)

Marius,

Is there any way you could post a video sample of the 30p strobe you are referring to? Being able to see an example of what you are talking about might make it easier for us to offer suggestions.

6 additional frames a second probably isn't going to totally eliminate strobing if (for example) your pans/movements are too fast to begin with.

If you can't post a sample, I'd recommend searching the forums for "flicker" or "strobe" in "24p" (or "30p"). There are a ton of discussions about this, many which have enlightened me in regard to shooting better video in both progressive modes.

Hi Marius. What shutter speed were you using? Faster shutter speeds will make strobing worse, so it is best to stay at no faster than 1/120s, preferably 1/60s.

As Richard mentions, keep those shutter speeds down. Use ND if you must.

Keep movements smooth and cinematic. Avoid fast pans, tilts, zooms, etc unless they're for desired effect (and practiced/reviewed before doing them for the money shot).

Thank you;
which preset in Vegas shall I use; right now I am using 1080 60i and change field order to progresive and frame blend; I sam shooting in low light so I use shutter speed either 30 or 60. I love Vegas (switched from Premiere) and I'd like to use it for editing 30p (if that's possible - is it???).

now, I don't get it....
I captured the 24p video from HV30 using 1) sony vegas and 2) NeoHD [with 3:2 pulldown remove option]. I opened new Vegas project with 1080 24p preset and imported my files to timeline. NOW, when I click on video files in timeline and see their properties [general tab] it shows me : 29.970 fps interlaced, 1440x1080x32, MPEG-2!!!!! on both of them WHY???
