iDVD themes for Vegas ?

Hi

I was browsing and wondering if I should get an iMac.
They demo iDVD and I was very impressed with the
rather tastefully done themes in iDVD.
Themes that can easily be passed on as professional work
not the school project feel that you get on DVD architect.

Is there some 3rd party themes that perhaps we can buy
that looks something similar to those on iDVD ?

I am looking for those semi automated themes
with some animation and tasteful background etc

Any themes for iDVD would not work in DVD Architect. You'd need to create similar DVD Architect themes.

Tommy, I have friends that have Macs and the DVD menus they make are amazing, particularly with FCP Studio and using Motion. They have full motion 3-d animation, as you know, and everytime I see them I want to buy a Mac.

I don't only because of the price. One friend in particular has an 8 core mac and with FCP Studio loaded it cost him $9K.

I love Vegas. Period. But it is limited in a few ways, and DVD authoring is one. I remember once on this forum asking about cool stuff like that and being told that only a novice would want those "chesesy" effects. Let me tell you, my mac friend is no doubt making money based on his DVD menus alone. There is no getting around it, they are classy, fantastic. He also has college kids who were raised on Macs doing his editing which gives him a huge advantage in that way.

You can do great things with Vegas, but if you are wanting the 3-d, etc thing that you see on a Mac, you likely would need to buy one. (You can make stuff with AE for your menus but it isn't the same). Virtually all of the largest and best event videographers in this area use Final Cut, a few use Premier, and a very few use Avid. I am the only one that uses Vegas that I know of, and I know a lot of videographers.

Many Vegas users get hot under the collar when other NLEs are praised, but I view that attitude as close-minded. It's no different than the irrational attachement people have for lots of things. For what you pay for it, you cannot beat Vegas, IMO. But that is just it, you get what you pay for.
