Fixing dead pixels in vegas
 

Is there a way to fix dead pixels in vegas? Any third party programs to fix it?

Not sure on Vegas but I'd have to imagine it's worth a google search. Similar plugins exist for other editing programs. Worse comes to worse there are lots for photoshop, you could load up shots and fix frame by frame. Or just do a quick bit of painting...

Have not done in Vegas but in Premiere Pro create a traveling mask of the inverted dead pixels ( mask created in Photoshop and using the same clips as background image) and shift image slightly to cover dead pixels. This works most of the time as long as the defect is just one or two pixels and is not on a border in any of the clips. I once did a 2 hour show correcting for bad pixels on a rented DVC200!! There where just a few places where I had to shift the image left rather than right to cover the fact that the image was over a boundary that showed. Don't know how to do traveling masks in Vegas but I know the approach works.

Using Bezier masks, this is *very* easy to do, and it can be done very quickly by creating a small mask and using keyframes to move it if necessary. If it's a dead pixel, it's quite easy to simply mask out the single pixel, shift the lower/underlying frame to the left/right/up/down and let the 'new' pixel show through the mask.

Cookiecutter can be used in same way.
