First attempt at Chromakeying

Hi all,

Well today I edit my first project that uses a green screen. So far I am toying around with the ChromaKey effect as well as the Color correction Secondary.

Lighting condition were excellent at the time of shoot and it is not a complicated shoot, just a newscast format, one camera in shifting from one anchor to the other in a closeup shot and the second camera is a wider static shot showing them both.

With the two effects mentionned above I am close to a something really nice. Of course the edges are bleeding here and there but I am tweaking the effects now.

Do you guys have any starter tips on how to handle green screen, a secret method maybe :)

Also I would need to have a white background behind them. I could I go to get that because right now when I apply the effects the BG turns black?

Thanks a bunch,

Phil

Keith Kolbo has an excellent tutorial called Using Chroma Key and Chroma Blur in Sony Vegas.

I did find it through Vasst and i must it is indeed excellent, thank you Keith.

I am pretty sure I will come back and add on this thread since I am far from being done. I still need to add texts, pictures etc..

Cheers

Phil

I second the vote on Keith's tutorial. It will really teach you what you need to know. In it, you will find that adding a Chroma Bur to the beginning of the FX chain really smooths out the key quite nicely.

Adding the white track should be as simple as placing that track below the one you are keying. This will allow the white to show through the keyed areas.
