Media Tags?
 

Ok, when you use media in the time line, save your project, it always saves a file associated with the media used. I guess this is a project tag or what ever. So goes the first question on organizing a project. Do most of you create a master folder for said project and copy all media that you intend to use to that folder? Then just archive the folder for cleaning up space on drives?

Vegas saves a project file with a .VEG extension. That file can reference multiple files in multiple locations as needed but simply stores pointers to those files inside the VEG file.

Now for backup purposes, you have an option in Vegas to save in a new folder and check the box "copy and trim media". When you do that, the media used will be copied to that folder as well.

Do you mean the .sfk files? I think those are the wave form files because if you delete them, Vegas needs to recreate them any time it sees the footage.

Yes the wave files. So I take it's a good idea to create a project folder, get organized how you like and then copy common files to said folder. This would eliminate these from junking up folders where common use files are stored.

Here is my storage structure:

video\
........Vegas Project Files\ (just for the .veg files)
........projects\
............sourcefiles\
................[project name] (stores all .avi files and all .sfk files)

That seems to work pretty well.
