vegas randomly says my files are broken

Hi
im trying to edit a bunch of 720p h.264 clips from a sanyo HD1000, and sometimes when i import a bunch of files into project media it will randomly tell me that "an error occured opening the media file". i then get to either select a replacement media file or flag it as offline. if i select an alternate file and pick the same file again, then its all good.

Sounds interesting. I had this in different way sometimes during editing HDV footage. Sometimes a clip produces black frames or red frames which resulted in black outs even during render. Restarting Vegas or just reopen the saved project removed them. I have no clue if this kind of failure is realy a failure or just sluggish programming. As long as you have a work around you are fine but check if this is giving you issues during render or later in the rendered video.

ive also noticed that every time i alt-tab to another program and back, vegas holds for a bit (to start looking if any of the material has changed?) and then sometimes it suddenly says my files arent working, tho they worked just a minute ago.

this is a complete showstopper for me

Options > Prefs > Close media files when not the active application.
If it's de-selected, select it.
If it's selected, de-select it.
Mine is selected and I don't have this problem.

hey i tried this, and i havent had any problems since!
that doesnt necessarily mean the problem is gone though as i havent done a lot since either, but lets hope!

another strange thing: i browse files in the explorer window, pick the one i want and go "open in trimmer", pick out the part i want and drag it on the timeline.
But after a while "open in trimmer" went gray and i couldnt open any clip i hadnt opened before. Restart vegas, and poof all files can now be opened in the trimmer.
Whats that all about?
