How can I get a 16.9 widescreen WMV

I need to render a WMV coming from a HD project, 1440 x 1080 Pal.
I’m having success with the render but it’s being letter boxed @ 320x240
How can I get a 16.9 widescreen WMV @ about theses dimensions 320x240 ?
What farm size do I need.
I have to give this to the client before morning.
Need a bit of help.

- just a guess -

Perhaps you can try the resolution settings of the Sony PSP -
480x272

Try setting the pixel aspect ratio (PAR) manually to 1.2121 in the custom render dialogs - that's what would fix it in NTSC-land. For PAL-HDV, I'm thinking it should be exactly the same.

If all else fails, a workaround is to download the freeware Windows Media Encoder from Microsoft - its interface exposes a wide-screen flag for the render. However, its not the most intuitive piece of software... You would render out to some intermediate, say DV-Widescreen, then pull that into WME.

But the pixel aspect ratio ought to set you up right in Vegas.

Thanks.
I ended up going with 448 x 252. Seems to work.

Another problem?
How do I render out a AVI file from my time line and keep the correct aspect ratio.
HDV 1440X 1080 to 720x 576 SD Pal

Seems when I render this out to AVI the result is 16.9 in a 4.3 frame.
Whats the work around.
What I want is to render out to SD 720x 576 pal AVI so I can then use this file in Sorensen to batch convert to my chosen format.

My wmv widescreen template, i use 1.333 aspect ratio, (640x480).
You could try 320x240 but still keep the 1.333 aspect ratio.
I'm in PAL Land also.

Paul.

I made a custom render option where I manually set the frame size at 584x320 or 876x480 and then I make sure i check the "stretch" option so WMV does not letter box the result. Take the vertical size and multiply by 1.825 to get the width needed to force a widescreen result.

You should be able to set it to a custom ratio and set the PAR at 1.000

I know I use 720 x 405 (Vegas sets it to 408 for some reason, so you might get 3 lines of black pixels) or 1280 x 720... I always use 1.000 for PAR...

Vegas 8 Pro now has a problem with the mp4 rendering for H264. Even when I change the aspect ratio it cant work (it used to work in 8b)
