Client wants an .flv file?

Hello friends - I'm working with a corporate client who is accumstomed to taking a finished video from his vendor, and using FCP and Sorensen Squeeze to compress and upload the video to his company's internal website.

I've done a lot of directing/producing for him before, but this was my first edit project and Vegas Pro 8 did a fantastic job for me. It was actually easier to learn than I thought.

We wrapped up our project early Monday, and he asked me to provide an .flv file. Well, I discovered that .flv is not one of the available output formats in Vegas. Then he asked for H.264 ... hmm, don't have that either (although, H.261 and 263 are available). In the end, I gave him a fat .mov file and he was able to work with it - but what's the deal with these file types? Thanks!

Sam

For flv you'll need to use another flash convertor.

For H.264, you already have those. File - Render As and then either MainConcept AVC/AAC or Sony AVC.

For flash I found this program. I use an HD wmv file to convert to

XviD4PSP 5.034 full public version released!

www.winnydows.com

this is a free flash or others converter, has h.264 and all the up to date codecs

I use On2 to convert to Flash.

I wrote a how to on my blog using Vegas Pro 8, Debugmode Frameserver and On2 Flix Pro (use version 8.500 - later versions don't seem to work correctly)

You can read the how to here
