Audio automation question
 

I am working on a project that has loud audio at times and quite audio at times so I am having to use the automation tool where you add points and raise and lower the audio as need be.

NOW.....Say I want to add some more footage to the project which means I have to move audio and video tracks around.....doing that totally messes my automation up; the automation stays where it is but the audio track moves...How do I attach / latch the automation with the audio so when I move the track it moves with it?

Auto Ripple
 

Hi Oliver, your answer is in the Auto Ripple function. There's a little icon that'll enable you to move all tracks, markers and regions together. I know how frustrating something like this can get, but I urge you to spend some time with Vegas to familiarize yourself with all the functions. I've always believed that Vegas works best when you know its full capacity and have customized it to your particular needs and requirements.

There is also a manual ripple function available on the Edit menu and through keyboard shortcuts. Now, I go wild for kb shortcuts, telling myself just how much faster I go with them, but they won't be everyone's cup of tea.

Instead of auto, this is post-edit.

Press F after an edit to ripple the affected tracks, press Ctrl-F to also ripple markers, keyframes, and envelopes. To ripple everything (all tracks) after an edit, press Ctrl-Shift-F.

Ctrl-Shift-F is what I use all the time. Ctrl-L will toggle auto-ripple, also handy.
