Viewing images on preview monitor

Ok, my brain has shut down and I can't remember why when I single click on images in the project media, they don't show up on my preview. I have the auto preview and play button clicked, but when I click on any image, the preview defaults to the timeline. I thought in the older vegas, I'm using version 8 now, that you could preview images by clicking on them? My brain's a little fried and I can't find the option in 8.

I have vegas 8 and it works on mine. There is a little button on the toolbar that says auto preview. All I have to do is click that and then when I single click the media it plays in preview. Double click drop it's in the timeline.

Hmm, that's what I thought, I can double click and put it on the timeline, but single clicking doesn't give me the preview. Doesn't do it on video either, hmmmm.

From the 8.0c Readme:

When the Show Video Monitor button in the Trimmer window is selected, video that you preview from the Vegas Explorer and Media Manager windows is played back in the Trimmer. Because the Trimmer is placed in the same window dock as the Explorer and Media Manager, you will not see your video preview. To preview Explorer and Media Manager video, you can drag the Trimmer to a new dock group, or you can turn off the Show Video Monitor button to preview in the Video Preview window.

Thank you Mike, and all, that's the button I was looking for. Happy Thanks Giving.
