Quick freeze frame in V8

I need to grab a frame within an event (text), and then use it as a readable short title but when I try to stretch it, it keeps going as if it were part of the event which it came from. I tried turning off "loop" but this didn't work either. What I need is to grab the frame as a still image and then stretch it (timewise). I found the online help to be useless. - Copy & paste seems to work but it is very awkward then to manipulate it.

What am I doing wrong ?

Split the event at the point you want to freeze and create a "subclip", then drag the event out with "loop" switched off.

Or..

Capture a still image of the frame and use the jpeg.

As Tony said, capturing a still of that frame will work fine. Another option would be to use a Velocity Envelope and change the speed to 0% which will freeze-frame the video.

Thanks, Tony & Edward. I tried the subclip, (They don't call it sub-event !!), & it works, but I still don't know how to capture a frame & use it as a still. (jpeg).

Click on "save snapshot to file" above the preview screen. Make sure your preview is set to "best-full" and project properties is set to progressive scan. I believe Edward has a script that automates this process.

Your right it should be "subEVENT"!
