Eliminating Multiple files during HDV Capture -Canon HV30

When I capture SD footage in Sony Vegas I am able to eliminate mutiple files by UNCHECKING "ENABLE SCENE DETECTION" in the capture mode.

Is there a way to set this/uncheck this in the HDV Capture mode? IT gets really cumbersome if you turned the camera on and off 20 times during a shoot to have 20 different .m2t files.

Thanks

Dave

I think if you used HDVSplit you'd have that option

I personally prefer HDVSplit... once you get the codecs set right, you can get a full-size full-framerate preview while capturing (If your computer is fast enough) you can choose how to tag each clip (using the time-code from the camera is very handy too)

I always had issues with the HDV capture for Vegas...

Joe,

I dont know where to find this HDV split option. I have checked the tabs under options-preferences and see nothing that i can unable. Am i looking in the wrong spot perhaps?

Its a separate Capture Utility David. You can get it here..

You do exactly the same thing with HDV as you did with DV. Go to File - Capture, pick the HDV capture option, and go to the new tab that opens in Vegas. Now click on the "Prefs" button in the upper left corner of that tab. The Preferences dialog box will now open. Scroll down the list on the "General" tab and the last option is "Enable HDV scene detection". Just uncheck that option and you will then get a single file upon capture.

Well...

Ed, I found the box under the HDV capture and unchecked it. I did a test tape of five start and stops with the camera to get five different scenes. Captured it and it worked great! Thanks.... So i tried to recapture the original tape with all the different files, again making sure it was unchecked in preferences...guess what.... Still gave me multiple files. Next suggestion please! Thanks so much for getting me to the point i am at!
