CG help..

Sorry if this a dumb question ..I want to put a CG {text} over a clip. I can’t figure out how to do it. When I use “insert text “ on an event in the time line it puts in a black background and the CGer comes up. How do I get just the text over my video

Thanks.. You guys are very helpful ..

starting to dig this Vegas thing

you must create a NEW VIDEO TRACK. Remember, VEGAS sees from the top down so keep this NEW VIDEO TRACK above your clip(s).

After creating a NEW VIDEO TRACK; Right Click and select INSERT TEXT MEDIA.

Hope this is what you were asking.

Hey Spot,

I'll try to make the event. It would be nice to see you and Manny again, hoping all is well :)

In case I can't make it that night, hopefully we will still bump into each other. I'll be in the CanonDV booth and Dan will be splitting his time between working in the Apple booth and working in the AJA Video Systems booth.

See you there hopefully,

- don

There are a couple of different ways you can do this. The method I normally use is to:
1. Put the clip on the timeline.
2. Find the frame you want to use and leave the cursor there.
3. Click the floppy disk icon above the preview window. This will allow you to save that still on your hard drive (make sure that your preview mode is set best before you do this).
4. Find that still and drop it onto the timeline. From there you can stretch that still clip out to 10 seconds.

24 bit colour as oppsed to 32...

heres a strange one.. ive just noticed all my clips are 24bit colour...

Im in PAL land and capture usign teh default vidcap 4 settings. (no need to change tehm really)

but goin into the clip, i notice that the colour is 24 bit and not 32...

any way to change this considering the actual system itself is set at 32bit??

any noticable difference??

Ryan is right but make sure you set your preview quality to "BEST" and then the default name is "IMAGE #" and where ever the default folder is that you named when you 1st set up Vegas. The new still image will be whatever type you set, PNG,BMP, etc and it will show up in your media pool. Drop it on the TL and set it to whatever length. You can also set the default length of stills in your preferences.

Place the clip on the timeline with the proper frame as the first frame. Insert a Velocity Envelope. Change the velocity to 0%.

Planning to be there Ed

Have a few events I am quoting prices for. I definitely want to participate if I am not filming that day. I am a little more than 2 hours away from orlando.

Sounds good. I'm going to wait until after NAB to get all the final arrangements and attendance list compiled. I'll let everyone know something in two or three weeks.

I do not know what is going on, but 32 bit color is the same as 24 bit color with an alpha channel. If you do not use an alpha channel, there should be no difference.
