Fade Envelopes vs. Multicamera

I've been reevaluating my workflow and I thought I'd ask what people's thoughts are on doing multicamera editing with fade envelopes rather than using the multicamera feature. I've found the multicamera feature rather restrictive and the prospect of not easily being able to go back to the original tracks without "hacks" (running a script to recreate them) someone disconcerting.

Using fade envelopes is slower, but seems to be less destructive and more flexible.

Thoughts?

Well... you also have the scripting multi-cam options which leave the original tracks intact.

Personally, I prefer to end up with a single "Master" track rather than trying to use fades or composite envelopes. With 2 cameras, fades or composite envelopes may not be too bad - but when you get above two, it would really be a hassle. Even before I wrote Excalibur 1 to help edit multi-cam, I still ended up creating a "Master" track.

Many people will copy the original tracks before activating the built-in multi-cam mode. Then you always have a copy of the original if you need it for some reason.
