PAL or NTSC?

I'm filming a friends wedding (DVD) here in the UK on Sunday.
He is English and lives and works in Tokyo. His fiance is Japanese. They MAY return to live in the UK at some time in the future. I'm shooting HD on a Z1 so I can shoot either 60i or 50i. Copies of the DVD will have to be supplied to families in Japan and families in the UK. I'm aware that most modern PAL DVD players can handle NTSC no problem but not vice versa (NTSC play PAL). So he could buy a £20 Pal DVD player here in the UK but not much good if his TV in Japan is NTSC. If I shoot in NTSC he can always play it on his PAL player. Or should I just shoot in PAL and suffer the degradation of standards converting it to NTSC in Vegas?
Hmmmmm.

Yikes, what a conundrum!

What about mastering the thing as an .avi file, then rendering one of each format?
Ive done this a few times and works well.

Just remember to set the properties in DVDA identically to that used in Vegas, and all will be well.

Yea. after I posted yesterday I ran some tests and thats the solution I came up with. Shoot in 50i. Best results I came up with was a render to PAL AVI then used Procoder to convert to NTSC MPEG ( Mastering Quality) then authored in TMPGEnc. I'm still curious to know if he bought a PAL DVD Player here in the UK would it play a PAL DVD on his Japanese TV?
