.MT2 Errors on Opening Vegas 8.1c Veg -- Help

I have imported two tapes worth of HDV into Vegas. I can build the original project, peaks build fine, then after rendering I get a series of errors from Vegas indicating the MT2 file is bad,a nd do I want to replace the file. I have imported the video twice now with similar results. Any troubleshooting hints are appreciated.

IN the Sony Creative Forums I found this as a better description of the problem

"an error occurred when opening the media file" is what I get this morning when opening a project I finished last night. It specifies the MP3 I used to score the video and asks if I want to:

Specify a replacement media file

Ignore error and leave media file offline

Ignore this an all subsequent errors

Could someone tell me A) what's going on here and B) which option to choose? What to do?

Any chance the file got moved? That's the message I always get when Vegas can't find the file, typically because I re-arranged my drives or files... usually just have to give it a pointer to the first file in the moved location, and the rest happens automatically.

Working Now

Got home and cranked up Vegas, reopened .veg and it opened normally w/ no errors. Really odd behavior. I did not move files. I will try using HDV Split going forward as recommended by some other folks.

Thanks for the help
