MTS vs UpShift vs NeoScene

*.MTS file
Original length of Video = 23:27;12
File Size = 1.97 GB
Time-line Scrub-ability = Poor
Quality = Very Good - Good for conversion to DVD
Re-render Quality = Poor
Playback on Time-line on Core I7 (Best-Full) = Full Speed

Upshift

Upshift Convert Time from *.MTS file = 17:14
File Size = 8.45 GB
Time-line Scrub-ability = very Good
Quality = Good - Very Good for conversion to DVD
Re-render Quality = Fair
Playback on Time-line on Core I7 (Best-Full) = Full Speed

Upshift Settings:
Preset = Low Speed/High Quality
Bitrate = 50 Mbps
Bitrate Control = Constant
Keyframe = 1
GOP Size = 1
Interlace = Copy from Input

UpShift using Proxy Quality Convert time from *.MTS file = 11:40
File Size = 1.75 GB
Time-line Scrub-ability = Best
Quality = Good for files destined for Internet - Poor for conversion to DVD
Re-render Quality = Poor
Playback on Time-line on Core I7 (Best-Full) = Full Speed

NeoScene

NeoScene Convert Time from *.MTS file = 5:45
File Size = 11.2 GB
Time-line Scrub-ability = Very Good
Quality = Best - Best for conversion to DVD
Re-render Quality = Best
Playback on Time-line on Core I7 (Best-Full) = Full Speed

NeoScene Settings:
Quality = Medium
Output Frame Format = Maintain source frame format

While Upshift can achieve good quality, the time it takes to convert a file vs NeoScene is almost 3 times as long! Quality is close to the same but NeoScene files can be re-rendered multiple times.

Upshift cost less initially but a whole lot more in time spent converting! And time is money! So in the long run Upshift is far more expensive than NeoScene!

*.MTS files have no conversion time but use quite a bit more editing time because of the poor time-line scrubbing and possible preview issues.

And the winner is NeoScene!

I regress on any previous negative statements I have said about NeoScene!
