.MP4 import into Sony Vegas?

I have a problem. Sony Vegas does not accept .mp4 format recorded on JVC GY HM 700. What can be the reason of that? Thank you for help!

Which version of Vegas are you using? If I remember correctly, Vegas 8 needed the .mp4 xdcamex clips ingested with the clip browser first before it could use them. I know Vegas 9 can take the xdcamex .mp4 directly from the HM700 for editing, as that is what I use myself.

Thank you for response! I used Vegas 8 and and than I downloaded Vegas 9 Trial Version. Both do not work. When I import files recorded on "700" in .mp4 Vegas reports that the "file may be corrupted or format is unknown".

Make sure you use "Device Explorer" and not "XDCAM Explorer."

See my tutorial here: Importing MP4 into Vegas Pro 9

I put SDHC card with clips recorded in .mov and in .mp4 which I'm interested in. Computer of course can read the device byt Vegas doesn,t. Device explorer doesn,t see it- "No device connected" it says..

It's obviously some sort of issue with your installation of Vegas and/or drivers. I assume you have updated your camera's firmware to the latest version.

I'm going to move this thread over to the Vegas forum so the experts can take a crack at it.

... what's the difference between the mp4 "imported" files (with the device explorer) AND the original ones (from the BPAV folder in the card) ?? ... If I'm going to have ANOTHER set of "imported" files with the device explorer, then for me it is the SAME as the good old Clip browser (with mp4 instead of mxf files) ..... if no "rewrapping" happens, why Vegas can't read the original files ??.... (as premiere seems to do.... ).....

regards
