Render out to WMV
 

When I render out to a .wmv, the audio/timecode track appears at the bottom, like with vhs tapes where you see the information on the side. Is there any way to avoid that when rendering out .wmv? There is no pixel crop that I find. Rendering out .mp4 or .mpg, .mov works fine, but .wmv gives me that garbled pixel track at the bottom.

What are your render settings?

I render to WMV a lot and have never see this before.

Yeah I found that it does it in after effects too, not just Vegas 9. When I try to render out to .wmv it has a blocky pixel stripe at the bottom, like I was saying, looks like from tape when you have the timecode track that would appear although this one is transparent over the video. Strange. My settings are just normal settings. I've tried a few different ones but the fact it's doing it in AE as well as Vegas, it's not a Vegas thing it's a windows media thing.

Agreeing that if it's doing it across Vegas and AE, it's likely a WM thing.

Download and reinstall Windows Media Player! Vegas, AE, all the rest are built on your install of WM.

Note that there are also some interesting utilities included with the Windows Media Encoder (a separate download) - this is a nice-to-have free package, since it exposes just a couple more controls for WM creation than does Vegas.

Thanks, I'll look into that. My computer for editing does not touch the internet or have any extra programs other than what I use to edit and create graphics. So it probably is not up to date WM install. I just ended up rendering out a .mp4 in HD and then using a different program to convert to .wmv on my internet computer. It was scaled down almost half size so the quality didn't suffer from a viewer's stand point.
