Shooting 60i to be converted to PAL

I'm shooting a short interview tomorrow and it will be delivered in PAL format. Is there anything I should know about PAL? Do I just render it out in a PAL format in Vegas and use PAL settings in DVDA?

I've explained to the client that the chances are that the DVD players in India will normally play both, but they still want PAL.

Hi Jeff

I suspect it will be much the same as the other way around?? I often am asked for NTSC versions of weddings for brides that have family in the USA. I shoot in 50i and then simply render the clips as MPEG2 using the DVD NTSC Widescreen preset. You might find that Vegas 9 doesn't have a DVD PAL Widescreen preset..My Version 7 had it but it was missing in 9 ...I just changed the aspect to 16:9 in Custom and saved the preset.

However you didn't say whether you are supplying this final video in HD or SD????

Jeff, I used roughly that workflow on a PAL project a couple years ago, it was well received in Turkey.

The only addition to the above: the DVD player/sw on my laptop will not only play PAL DVD-Video, but, it confirms that it is a PAL DVD. That was of some comfort! That's the just the vanilla Cyberlink PowerDVD that came with the laptop.

Thanks guys, I'll be working on the DVD in a few minutes, let you know how it goes.

Just as a point of interest (don't know if it's the same in USA) but just about every player you can get anywhere these days plays NTSC as well as PAL/SECAM

Edit: I should say though, that PAL ones do look much better than the NTSC ones on a 50Hz PAL TV/Monitor
