How to best convert DVD files - for editing with Vegas?
I have a VIDEO_TS folder which contains the .IFO, .BUP and .VOB files for making a DVD of a 40 film I made.
I need to urgently make a short trailer for the film and for reasons I won't bore you with right now - these DVD files are the only things I've got. So basically my question is... how can I use these files, or convert them into some other file - so that I can: 1. edit them on Vegas 9 2. maintain best possible quality My editor overseas suggested this workflow: Quote:
The film was shot in HD. Edited on Final Cut Pro. By the way... trailer will most probably be viewed on computer screen, not tv. Thanks! |
Here's the way I've always done it.
Place the folder somewhere on your hard drive. Use the File-Import-DVD Camcorder Disc option and browse to this folder. When the conversion is complete, drag the files to a Vegas timeline end edit as desired. Render to your desired format. If this is going to another DVD, use a CBR of 8,000,000. |
And yes... it IS as easy as that.

Thanks guys. I'll try that!
