Adding motion with Event Pan/Crop ... help! at DVinfo.net

I'm hoping that some of you have a good working knowledge of how this feature works because it's been strictly hit or miss for me ... I'm using 8.0c and trying to add a few Ken Burns moves to some JPEG photos and a PNG file (with transparent background) to my project. After reading the tutorial, I position the frame marker within the photo and click the "first frame" icon. I reposition the frame marker and click the "last frame" icon. Then ... nothing. After 2 or 3 tries, sometimes I'll get a move but it's usually backwards (opposite the direction I intended).

Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Thanks in advance!

Your second step is backwards.
Keyframes are created each and every time you change anything.
Position your image accordingly at the beginning.
A keyframe is automatically created.
Now click at the very end of the timeline and adjust the image as desired.
Another key frame is automatically created.
Exit Pan/Crop and play your new "creation" :-)

Wow - that did the trick! I wasn't clicking to a new position on the timeline. Don't know how I missed that. Working beautifully now - thanks Mike!

Glad to hear that it's now working for you.

Here's a little trick for you.
Double-click the event to highlight it.
Press the Loop Playback button (to the left of the Play button) followed by the Play button.
Now open the Pan/Crop window and see your changes reflected instantly in the Preview window.
BTW, this same trick works with any video FX that you choose to apply.

Brian, I can't take credit for that "trick" as I learned it from an unknown Vegas guru a long time ago in a galaxy far far away :-)
