What's your technique for removing breaths?
 

Ther seems to be a number of ways to do this in Vegas, so I thought I'd get some input. Thanks.

I usually grab a short piece of the "room" with no talking and drop that on top of the breath.
This way, there's no momentary jarring which is what would happen if you muted it.

...and to add to that... playing around with the volume on the vocal track to sharp fade out/in just before/after the breath in of the narrator, (but not necessarily totally to 0) can work well. Slope of fade and minimal level are things to experiment with. Obviously, the room tone clip can be inserted into a separate audio track so it "blends all in seamlessy". This can result in very effective overall results. The important thing (especially if there is no low level background music audio being used) is to avoid sudden short periods of total silence as Mike notes.

It's very easy and quick to do well in Vegas (or indeed, FCP - and I imagine any NLE) once you've mastered the approach but I'm sure, as you indicate, there are many ways of dealing with this. Whatever gives you the results you want is good!
