Thinking of upgrading from Vegas Platinum to Pro, questions
 

Questions:

1. Can you have Vegas pro 9 on more than 1 of your PC's at one time? On Platinum I can only use it on one PC (frustrating) unless unless I take it off the other & I like to edit on my pc & lap top while traveling.

2. How steep is the learning curve going from Platinum to Pro?

3. For those that have made the leap, was it worth the time & money to do so?

you can install Pro on 2 computers as long as you are only 1 at a time. Hey, that's them not me. ;-) Sounds silly I agree, but I run 2 set ups. While I render on 1, I rough cut on the other.

Going from Platinum to Pro is not a hugh leap but like anything else, it will take a little work since Pro has so many features that Platinum doesn't but again since you already have the basics of working with Vegas the leap shouldn't be too hard.

I've never used Platinum but I do know that without the ability to have unlimitedaudio and video tracks and especially the Scripting feature I would be lost.

Our licensing agreement permits you to install the software on as many machines as you own, as long as you are not running the programs at the same time. For instance, you can install the software on your home machine and on your laptop. You are not allowed to install the software on multiple machines if you are going to be using them simultaneously, such as in a home studio setting. If you are going to run the software concurrently on more than one machine, you would need to purchase a separate license for each computer.

Note that when you install the software on a different computer you will need to complete the registration process again. Register the software as you did the first time to unlock the program on each machine. You can register online directly within the software, via the phone, or on our website through our online form.

Vegas Pro is the easiest, most intuitive NLE that I've come across. The learning curve is not steep relative to anything else out there. I've never used platinum, but it would only help you for using Vegas. I don't know what flavor of source material you're editing (SD, HD, 1080i, 1080p), so you will likely need an intermediate codec like Cineform NeoScene to capture and/or convert footage, but once it's in the NLE Vegas is very powerful, yet simple to use.

Caveat: I use Vegas 8.0, and have not upgraded to 9.0. I'm still hearing about issues with 9.0 and v8 does everything I need.
