Editing on a laptop...

Are any of you using a laptop as your main editing rig?

I'm asking because I'm thinking of building a new desktop PC, or if I should just buy a laptop.

Storage wouldn't be too much of a biggie, since the laptop I'm consdering supports USB3.0/eSata.

In consderation of video editing only - what are some pros and cons for you guys?

Yep. Been using a laptop as my primary editing machine for a number of years now.

yes, I've been using my laptop as a 2ndary machine for quite a while except it blew up last week so my tech guy (my son whose a network/server engineer for a nationwide cell phone company) is taking care of me. It has advantages, like last September when I was in another state doing a wedding and I was gone for 5 days but really only lost a couple of days editing (travel days).

I cut on my laptop, and it's a nice one. But I'd never, ever want to use it for a primary tool. Too slow, screen is too small, it's very hard to use two hands on, etc. Cutting on a good desktop is always going to be faster.
