Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9 for Canon 7D

Did quick search with no conclusion. With Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9....Can it handle 7D footage for editing or do I need an intermediate codec, etc? What else do I need? As always, Thanks for the assistance.
