Firestore Raw DV files in dvsd codec NOT read by Vegas Pro 8

Hey all,

I shot a ton of footage using a friend's firestore setup. Very handy.
Except the footage won't drop into Vegas Pro 8.
It plays with VLC and WMP but Vegas is a no go.
The files were recorded as RAW DV, are avi files and indicate a dvsd codec.

Any ideas how to get my 7+ hours of footage into Vegas?

Is there a codec to download or a converter to install?

Thanks.

sincerely,

ian

Not to be pushy here but does anybody have a suggestion or option in relation to my post above?

I really need this footage in Vegas Pro 8.

Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

If you get no better suggestions and since VLC can play it, VLC has the option of sending its output to a variety of file formats, including MPEG, so you may want to try to use VLC to convert it to something Vegas can read.

Normally I would ask you if you have the dvsd codec, but since WMP can play it, I am assuming you do. But it does not hurt to double check.

Hey Adam,

Thanks for the assist.

I wound up thinking, maybe, just maybe, it wasn't captured in DV RAW but in DV-AVI Type-1 or Type-2.

Turns out, with the assist of GSpot it was Type-1...not readable by Pro 8.

So, I downloaded a little program called DV Converter that will transform Type-1 to Type-2 and, voila! It works. Now to convert 7 hours of footage. Oy!

Thanks again.

sincerely,

ian

Do you have a link for this download?
