pal video for use in the usa

I have a video file that is rendered as Pal MPeg 2. I am in South Africa and need to send this video on dvd to the USA and it needs to be playable on a desktop dvd player. Will the following work?

1. open a new NTSC vegas 8 Pro project
2. drop the pal mpeg2 on the NTSC timeline
3. Render the timeline out as an NTSC mpeg2 for dvd architect
4. Open a new NTSC dvd architect project and import media
5. Burn to dvd

Also, in Sony Vegas 8 Pro, when adjusting the bit rate for rendering, is possible to see what the final file size will be before actual rendering it?

This is a rather urgent project so any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
