Excalibur skipping where Vegas icon appears

Ed,
From time to time a small black arrowhead with a small vertical line segment appears in the marker bar just above the marker flags. I don't know what it is or how to get rid of it. What does it signify?

The multi cam wizard leaves a blank between the cam markers before and after that symbol.

How can I remedy this?

I haven't ever seen anything like that. Can you e-mail me directly with maybe a screen shot and/or the VEG file?

I just discovered what the arrowhead is. It's the remnant of the post edit ripple marker arrow that remains when you drag an event to the right and move it back to its initial postion. If auto ripple is off it doesn't go away.

So it merely correlates to the Excalibur problem I'm having at that event intersection. I had clpped a few frames off the the right end the of first event before the intersection (for both cams and audio tracks) by splitting and deleting. Now no matter what I try, Ecalibur leaves a blank in the Master Overly between that intersection and the previous marker. If I move the segment up manually it contains an oddball frame at the end that came from somewhere nearby.

[Edit-- Well, If I place a marker one frame before the intersection then there is only one frame I have to move up manually, and that works. Trouble is, I need a dissolve at the interection. If I try that, the dissolve looks like it gets inserted before the intersection for that marker and for the two subsequent dissolve markers. There's about 10 seconds between the three markers on the timeline.]

Ok, I know the black arrow you're talking about now. As for the other, it sounds like you don't have any more footage before that point. Can you just move the entire clip left? Also, have you upgraded to the most current version (version 4.5)?

David Ennis July 21st, 2005 11:36 AM

I have 3.0. Looking at past news releases, I see that 4.5 was a free upgrade from 4.0, and that before that there was upgrade pricing from 3.0 to 4.0. Is the latter still true?

Edward Troxel July 21st, 2005 11:49 AM

Yes, upgrade pricing still applies.

Can you give me a link for details? I couldn't find any.

[Edit -- or email me the info if that's more appropriate? Thanks]

Edward Troxel July 21st, 2005 12:31 PM

Info on Excalibur 4.5 is at http://www.jetdv.com/excalibur

Purchasing link will be activated shortly. In the meantime, the demo mode will run for 2 weeks.

Yes, I had no trouble finding that page. It's info on 3.0 to 4.0 that I couldn't find.

Download the manual PDF file and look in the back. The major changes are listed.

Probably the most major difference from 3 to 4 is the inclusion of Tsunami and Neon - you now get all three in one single tool.

Did you get the e-mail I sent earlier?
