Countdown Leader

Does Vegas 9 have a countdown leader ?
I went into "Help" but that was useless.

No it doesn't but it's very easy to make a basic one.

Ron Cooper October 16th, 2010 09:37 PM

Here you go Ron, (done with Pro 8) complete with tone.
The text is transparent in case you want to put it over top of something.

Many Thanks Mike, BUT, as usual Murphy works overtime here, - when I downloaded it & tried to pull it into my project in Veg 9, I got this message :

"A nested project source media file was not found "

Regards,
RonC.

Mike, I tried loading it into Vegas and it does work but only video. The Audio appears to be there but no pips. I checked to make sure the track wasn't muted and other audio further on the track is OK.

Take a look at the Time Clock effect in NewBlue's Video Essentials IV! You can easily create timeclocks that count up or down in a variety of formats.

Sorry about that Ron.
Here's the 400 Hz and 1 KHz wav files to go along with it.

Some time ago, I was looking for something similar and tracked this down:

SMPTE Film Leader (Test) : Cincinnatus : Free Download & Streaming : Internet Archive

It appears a Creative Commons license, some rights reserved. But they don't indicate what of the specific licenses it is. I was only playing with it, so I never bothered to dig any deeper, but depending on what you're going to do with it, you might want to.

It doesn't have audio, so hang on to the tones from Mike and use them.

Thanks very much everyone. This community is amazing thanks to you people.

However, I still can't quite follow WHY, a so-called professional program like Vegas has not had this feature years ago when others have had it for years. Have they just forgotten that it is not there, even in Vers. 10 apparently ?

Once again thanks,

RonC.

Just wondering why anyone would need a film-type leader these days?
Anything produced for TV would have a VT clock going to black after "3" anyway. How is a film leader relevant?
(only asking...)

Ron Cooper October 17th, 2010 08:20 PM

Robin, I belong to a Video makers club & they ask for a countdown leader when presenting material. It is easy for them to cue when placing different videos together. Otherwise I don't normally use them.

Thanks Ron, that's answered my question!
