Save As/Copy Media with Project -- Problem

Trying to 'save as' with trimed media (2 sec). Some of the media is not trimed however, rather the full file is in the new folder (instead of the trimed clip/section on the timeline). The issue seems to only be happening with .m2t files. (I also have a mix of MP4 and cineform in the project I am attempting to save)

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks --

afaik that function only works with dv (avi) footage.

Thank you -- wasn't aware of that -- bummer. Just found this in the help file:

<<Audio/video events are saved in a new AVI file. You can trim DV AVI, uncompressed AVI, and Sony YUV AVI files. Because of the lossy nature of other video formats, those video files will not be trimmed, but will simply be copied to the project folder.>>

It will work with formats beyond DV but not with all formats. Basically, anything that can be smart rendered should work but there are definitely many formats that will not.

James,

I used to use this great feature all the time to archive my projects. For HD footage I used Cineform but Sony broke this function with Vegas 9 (it worked perfectly in Vegas 8). They have confirmed the bug and I've been waiting for them to fix it for nearly two years now. It is obviously is not a priority to them or enough of their customers. I miss the days of Sonic Foundry, That company stood behind their product.

Is there a list somewhere of which formats will work?

Thanks again everyone

James, the only formats that will work are the ones you mentioned in an earlier post in this thread.
That is, DV AVI, uncompressed AVI, and Sony YUV AVI files.

James,

I just tested Vegas 10c with the latest Cineform Neo HD and it looks Sony finally fixed the problem. So you could use Cineform and the get the result you are looking for. Cineform does take much more disc space but also gives you 4:2:2 color space and first light if you are using Neo HD. Neo Scene should also work.
