FX from TRUE BLOOD

In the first season of TRUE BLOOD a horrible supernatural female entity attempts to take over the town and resurrect a demon/god. It was a great performance and character. Anyhow, they used a simple but effective FX when she'd take control of a human. Her head would vibrate quickly and defocus for about half a second. The whole frame didn't vibrate, just the character.

Is there a way to do that in Vegas 10?

I don't have AE.

Being a total True Blood addict, that series has gotta be series 3 if not 4(?). However, back to the Fx. Vegas doesn't have a ready made Fx, but you could build one.

First off you'll need to separate the body/head from the background, and the head would have had to have movement.

I can think of 2 ways if this hasn't been green screened.

1] Cookie cutter.

Or.…

2] Bezier Mask.

Once you've got the target item segregated from the background you can start applying several treatments:

A - Over Sampling
B - Delicate PanCrop with shaking multiple HOLD keyframes
C - Track Motion… maybe.

Now, the killer-diller, is to apply Motion Blur. Do that and it'll look Truly Scary!

To set this up from acquired Media, maybe 20 minutes.

Now, and here's the thing. There is a tool, a Plugin over on the VASST site, one word: MAYHEM! Try the Demo. Be warned it is highly addictive. But lurking in there there is much you can do. In a session you can quickly build multiple Fx links and have them applied over 1 or 2 or 5 or any number want.

Try it, you might just not come back!

It's MAYHEM!!!!!

MAYHEM

Take water along. It'll be a bumpy ride. Marvellous.*

Grazie
