Upgrade to Pro 10?

I'm using Sony Vegas Studio HD 10 - can upgrade to Pro 10 for $250 but i've been reading about all the problems with playback of 5Dmk2 renders etc. and folks going back to previous versions. Should i wait til they get all the bugs out?

the way things are going at the moment it's very likely that the bugs will be ironed out in the next release while new ones are introduced....

i suggest you simply download the trial version and give it a thorough work out. that way you'll find out for yourself whether it's worth the $ upgrade price.

i have to add that (and this is a general rant ;-)) that asking other people whether something is suited for what they're doing WITHOUT trying it for themselves is asking for trouble.....

Leslie, unless I didn't read Harry's post correctly, Harry didn't ask if it was suited for what he was doing, only if it was so buggy that it might not be worth the expense.

Harry, if you're getting by with what you're using, skip Vegas 10. If you need the features desperately, try it out. You may find relief with any bugs you experience upon the next update.

Vegas 10 is VERY buggy, but some folks are getting by with it. You can still use Vegas Studio if the Pro version doesn't work out. The only way to find out if the bugs will affect you for sure it to try it as Leslie suggested.

afternoon there jeff,

you're right - probably age catching up with me.....

i'm using 10c without any major problems - however, my usual projects are doco style which don't really stretch vegas's capabilities, and the only bugbears i have come across at the moment are the media generator colour / ptt not refreshing properly, neither of which is a show stopper for me....

however, going back to my reply, i still think it's worth downloading a trial and seeing for oneself whether 10 suits ones needs.....

I may let Pro 10 pass then. Cept that it seems that my Cineform is not producing sooth playback AVIs (which isn't even a Vegas problem) I'm good with Studio and it was all the bug reports that made me post here weighted against the lowered upgrade price....

Thanks
Harry
