Agreed. I assumed it was something more than it just having been updated. I thought perhaps there was a technical reason.

I have only recently started working with non SD AVI as a matter of course and it's a facility I sorely miss.

I (OK, the college I work for) just got my first HD camera (JVC HM700 - love it so !!) and I know that I'm going to miss this feature too.
