I'm with Leslie on this one - you may be making this overly complicated. If you research this subject, there are many posts about getting perfection from HD -> SD renders.

However, many times you can get very good results by using the "Quick and Dirty" method I've documented in the following tutorial: YouTube - Sony Vegas 9.0e AVCHD to SD Tutorial (revised) Note that I'm in NTSC-land, but it's an easy leap to PAL. Also, read the comments - there are some good upgrades.
