HELP! Vegas 6 messed up my TV commercial

Ok guys,
I know if I had read all the threads on this board, I would definitely find something close that can resolve my problem but I have just under 12 hours left to deliver this TV commercial.

I have Adobe PPro 1.5 Trial and it may seems I might have no choice but to do a learn and edit or edit and learn while I try to get this TV Commercial done before tomorrow morning (DEAD LINE!).

Ok, back to this Vegas issue. I edited, pan, added still pics, videos, 3Ds this that dadadadadada.

I finished everything and my client was very impressed when I showed him the play back, right.

Time to render, I rendered it as .avi file and when it came out, some of the clips did not show.
Also, the whole video was distorted with the animated texts, panned clips etc looking like a water color effects or something.

When rendering I ......
I checked the Copy and trim media with project
I checked the "Stretch Video to fill output frame size
I checked the "Save project markers in media file

After getting the same horrible result, I unchecked some and checked some just to see which on will work but none solved this problem.

I opened Vegas 5 and even tried to see if I can open the project on it but I got an error message.

Can someone please point what might be wrong here.
I have used Sony Vegas many times but never had this problem.

My hardware is
Brand New
3.4 GHZ
250GB 7200rpm
1MB Ram
Vegas 6a

.......and come on, the commercial is only 28 secs, mostly still pictures, so what am I doing wroooooooooong!.

SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Try the latest version of Vegas, which you can download off the Sony website.

I think it's on 6.0b now.

2- Decrease RAM preview to 0MB. It's under options --> preferences --> video tab --> first box.

3- (shot in the dark) Try nesting your veg and then rendering? Or try copying and pasting into another V6 project.

4- People do report projects with Vegas and big images. Using smaller images might help??? (not sure how'd you make them smaller and put them into Vegas quickly, but Photoshop actions and backups may help)

1. I checked the Copy and trim media with project

You really don't need this, it may add to your render issues.

2. I checked the "Stretch Video to fill output frame size

Again this is more than you need, unless you didn't set up the project correctly.

3. I checked the "Save project markers in media file

This one is fine, yet it's really only intended if you are going to DVD and want chapters.

Most of those options are good for "project" or veg. file saves. What is your destination format? What is your client requesting?

Glenn,
I tried what you stated and still, I am getting the distorted images and blank screen.
In regards to the still pictures, they are not big at all.
Actually the sizes for the stills are the same all through and not all is showing.

Hmmmmmmm, still cracking my brains here but thanks, I appreciate this.

Devin,
He actually needs the one for the Cable TV in DV tape while the other one on avi file.

All the formats I have tried so far are bring out the same output !@#$%^&*()_.

What happens when you try to print to tape?
If that works, the you could recapture that as an avi

I take it the video looks fine when you preview it in vegas? and also when you selective render preview?

If so, then that narrows it down a bit
you haven't got your top field, bottom field interlace settings reversed?

you could try frameserving with debug mode out to a stand alone encoder like procoder

double check your project settings and your render settings - it has to be something

I checked the Copy and trim media with project
That's a "Save As" option - not a "Render As" option

I checked the "Stretch Video to fill output frame size
I checked the "Save project markers in media file

I would uncheck the "Stretch Video" box

After getting the same horrible result, I unchecked some and checked some just to see which on will work but none solved this problem.

Need some more details. What format is your source file? What preset are you rendering to? How did you capture?

I opened Vegas 5 and even tried to see if I can open the project on it but I got an error message.

Assuming the original file was built in Vegas 6, Vegas 5 won't open those files. One thing you might do: Open both Vegas 6 and Vegas 5 and try copying the events between them.

Shot in the dark:
If you go file --> render as...

Those settings in there can differ from your project settings (i.e. what you see in video preview).

Check:
File --> properties These are project properties
Fille --> render as These control the render 'properties'

2- Blank screen: That's weird. If it's coming before/after you video, it may be because Vegas is rendering the loop region.

Resolution:
I copied the animated texts, still pictures and other things I did on the Vegas 6 and Pasted it on Vegas 5.
I rendered it and played it back on Windows Media Player and it worked fine.

Don't know why it did not render on V6 so I guess Vegas 5 rocks.

Thanks guys for all your effort trying to get this TV commercial done.

Hey, it is my first ever TV commercial and it will be Viewed on a local TV station in GA.

Matt Brabender August 18th, 2005 06:56 PM

congrats on doing your first tv commercial :)

Thanks guys. It is awesome.
Great learning experience too because they wanted the Video on a DV tape and it was quite eazy to transfer.
