In projects that are for down converting from HD to Std. DVD what are the benefits of 8-bit v the two 32-bit settings ? I assume that you would down convert before editing to make it easier.

If you down-convert 32-bit to 8-bit prior to editing and finishing, there isn't much of an advantage.

The ideal scenario is to edit and finish in 32-bit, and then render out to 8-bit. This avoids many issues like banding, etc if your footage is heavily color graded.

If no color correction is required, and there are no vfx or keying effects, then it is not really worth editing in 32 bit. In this case, 8-bit is good enough.

Thank you Sareesh. I will keep it all 8-bit.
