transitions are not smooth

I am using vegas 10 with some clips shot with my Canon 5d

I am noticing that every time I do cross-fades transitions, they aren't smooth.
there is a specific moment when the first bit of the next clips kicks in when there is a noticeable (albeit very quick) jitter (the picture almost imperceptibly freezes for like 1/2 second), annoying enough to underline the start of the next clip.

my computer is powerful so I don't really understand what the problem is

any help appreciated
thanks
Federico

are you seeing this in preview or the finished product? Sometimes Vegas will trip a little on transitions, I see this even with SD material but I do a RAM Preview and it turns out to be 100% fine and never happens on the finished product.

thanks and yes, this is on preview.
will render tonight to bluray and see what happens - I didn't know about RAM preview. how do I do that?

Don't render to Blueray yet. Wait until you know for sure about the transitions. Why waste the time/materials.

RAM render is SHIFT B (tools-Build Dynamic Preview) First highlight the area you want to Preview, not too big an area but a transition is only a few frames anyway, so highlight that like you're setting up a Region, press SHIFT B and watch the monitor. It should be fine. You might also want to set the Preview to Best when you do the RAM Preview.

Or just render the problem transition (with a little space before and after) to a file on your computer and see if it's smooth in the render. Should be fine.
