Vegas V11 Crashes

Bought the upgrade today and it wont open on any of my computers (error message is Vegas has stopped working). V10 and before worked fine. Tried on Windows 7 (32/64 bit) and Vista- same problem. Anyone else experiencing this?

Re: Vegas V11 Crashes

Initially I couldn't install it, it was very strange, than I realized I was mistakenly trying to install the 32 bit version on win 7 64bit. I know full well that Vegas 11 32 should work perfectly fine on Win 7 64bit, but still it would not install. It was just as well, cause I didn't want 32bit version anyway.

Once I downloaded and installed Vegas 11 64bit, it worked, but not very well. I reformatted my OS drive and reinstalled Win 7, then all was fine when I installed vegas 11 64 without issues.

Bottom line, try a clean install of Windows if your problems persist. Good luck.

Re: Vegas V11 Crashes

Looks like the culprit were my three favorite (and expensive) audio plugins. I removed them from the VST/Native plugin file and the program opens. The frustrating part is these are Sony (Oxford) effects. They have always worked in previous versions, and I have used and needed them in every project I've done. Now I have to figure out how to make them work in 11 or go back to V10.

I should add only the 64 bit version opens. The 32 bit still crashes at "creating file I/O manager".

Bummer, hope you find a way to make your plugins work.

Thanks Jeff. Got the 32 bit version to open by removing all previous versions except 10.

Re: Vegas V11 Crashes

Sonnox (Sony Oxford) replied almost immediately that they've had other complaints. Here's the message:

Dear Duane

Many thanks for contacting Sonnox Support.

I am sorry that your Oxford plug-ins are causing issues in Sony Vegas. We have very recently been made aware of some issues in the latest versions of Sony software, including Vegas, which we will investigate. As soon as I have any news, or can offer a workaround, I will contact you immediately.

Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience whilst we investigate what has changed.

Kind regards

Nick
