Can't import media

I ripped a file off a DVD last year and have just now come to incorporate it in a Vegas project - but Vegas won't open it...it seizes Vegas each time I try...both version 11 and 12...32 and 64 bit.

It is an .mpg file of .99GB and it opens and plays in Windows media player no trouble. Apparently I must have opened it one time in Vegas as there was a .veg file in the folder, though when I tried to open that, Vegas opened ok but just sat there spinning wheels. I vaguely remember slicing out the section I wanted so must have done that in Vegas...if in fact I did.

Anyone have any thoughts on what could be happening?

Re: Can't import media

Hmmm...the .veg file did open...only it took a looooong time to do so...it was .99GB coming off a USB2 external drive. I tried again and just left it and eventually it opened. It was a Vegas 10 file...

Will now try it on my video computer...

I probably did not understand your question. What the Vegas fails to open - old project or dvd rip file?

Thanks Juris. I got the .veg file to open on my 32 bit machine so I now have the clip I wanted. Thanks for your ideas all the same...
