Old files in new versions of Vegas
I have a long term project on. I began post-production with Vegas v10 (I think), and the way I'm going I won't have finished until about version 17+! :-( (unless I can get to work on the thing full time).
I'm wondering if there are any issues with picking up with later versions, files generated in old versions. |
Re: Old files in new versions of Vegas
Usually Vegas is forward compatible but not backwards. In other words, events created in an earlier version will open in a later one but not vice versa. This also means that if you import anything from that earlier version you will no longer be able to view it in that earlier version unless you've made and kept a copy.

Re: Old files in new versions of Vegas
Thanks so much. What about opening files made with 32 Vegas, with 64 bit Vegas?

Re: Old files in new versions of Vegas
Hi Renton,
64-bit will open 32-bit files, but any 32-bit only effects will be missing. Dave |
Re: Old files in new versions of Vegas
Thanks Dave. What sort of effects would those be - are 32 bit only effects?

Re: Old files in new versions of Vegas
Actually, I've just checked back through all the stuff I've done and the files say they were done on v11, so therefore are 64 bit...so the 32 to 64 bit question is irrelevant. Interestingly even files saved in v12 and v13 are identified in the 'type' column in windows explorer, as 'Vegas Pro 11.0' files. ???? What goes with that?
