i've given mp4 1080p usbs to many people - no problems reported (created using handbrake)

Hi Marcus

Leslie uses Vegas but as mentioned does the MP4 with Handbrake

All my USB's deliveries have been simple just rendering out to 1280x720 format using the Sony AVC preset. That sends the file out as a 8000kbps video which is more than enough for a Smart TV

Just remember to set project properties correct as HDV is 1440 pixels wide not 1920 as it doesn't have a square PAR and you will have to set de-interlacing to either interpolate or blend ..I use blend as there isn't much motion at weddings.

thanks chris, my usual curtness displaying itself...

just to reiterate - i edit in vegas, usually create a 'master' file (.mxf or xdcam), then render that in handbrake to either 720, or 1080p (depending on client requirements)

Those TVs likely can read .m2t and .m2ts directly. (I know Samsungs can for sure) Using an AVCHD preset works too if you're concerned about filesize. If you're rendering progressive, I highly suggest the Handbrake route suggested above.

Hi Marcus

I use the Sony AVC template and the 1280x720 internet preset ...that's more than enough as it encodes at 8000 kbps. I have actually done a few at 4000 and the quality is still awesome if you need a smaller file size

Ho Chris ,

Thank you! It's what i usually use when i want to upload in internet! With the file palayed by My tv i see a lot of unnatural motion during the tilt nivea of the camera. Should i set anything in the custom table?

Hi Marcus

My Spanish is non existent so can you maybe explain what you mean by " during the tilt nivea of the camera" or post an example??

Ahahahahh Chris it's My iPhone corrector that makes me write the "unbelieveble"!
Lol
I meant that i see the lines in the tilt moves of the camera (from up to down)... And the result is unnatural to the eye. If i look at the render in m2t HDv 1080 50 i the image is perfect

Hi Marcus

AhHa!! You must be talking about interlacing lines from the original footage which get out of control when you resize the video. You need to set Vegas project properties to match your HDV file but also set render quality tio "best" and deinterlacing to "blend" .... that way the original file is de-interlaced by Vegas before it's resized to MP4

Thx Chris!
Template? Internet or avchd ? What works best for Smarttv?

Re: Export from HDv 1080 50i to Smart tv

I have always used the Internet preset which is 1280x720 and a bitrate of 8000 kbps but I don't have a Smart TV with a USB. However I think stick to MP4 rather than AVCHD just in case a client cannot play AVCHD files. My media player, connected to my TV via HDMI runs MP4 files from a USB perfectly.

Also be aware that some so called "FULL HD" TV's only have a screen resolution of 1280 anyway so I find the rendering MP4 to 1280x720 works for all TV's ....It might work on their TV at 1920x1080 but might struggle on someone elses. We need to make delivery formats as compatible as possible!

thx Chris!
Other question :
On the render tab in the custom button i found the "prioritize quality over speed" and i set to maximum.... Does it affect the quality of the video at the end if set to best?or just taken it too long and the quality is the same?
Thank you
