Ooh. Native ProRes hooks are much needed. So are native DNxHD hooks.

Re: Announcement from Magix about Vegas14

+1 dnxhd would be most useful indeed

That's wonderful news - and just as I was getting used to DaVinci Resolve 12.5!

Re: Announcement from Magix about Vegas14

We knew Sony was working on supporting mov and ProRes playback, as Apple is not willing to fix the security issues in their PC quicktime plugin.

The big question for me would be: Will ProRes now be an encoding option (currently very very rare in the PC world, due to restrictions by Apple) or does this simply mean we will have ProRes file playback "support", but without needing quicktime?

Fantastic news. And not a gimmick in sight 😊

Are these press releases being emailed out to the customer base? I haven't received anything from Magix since the acquisition.

A few days after the purchase announcement I downloaded two Magix applications (trials). When I installed them it required registering. I think it was during the registration process that I elected to receive Magix announcements about software deals. I think this is why I received the recent Vegas Pro 14 announcement from the Magix CEO.

I've not registered with Magix, but did receive the email announcement.

Go figure!

I'm gettting update emails on my old "Sony database" accounts.... Magix sent an announcement email that they purchased the customer database and unless you opted out, you should get any new announcements.

If you're not getting them, you either hadn't opted in with Sony, or they are going to a spam/junk folder, or.... maybe they lost your contact info!

I have not registered with Magix and have not had any emails but can still log into my Sony account and see all my software registered etc. Looking forward to see what comes in September.

Didn't opt out, not going to junk folder. Looks like they lost me! I can log on to my Sony account.

Anyone outside the US getting these messages?

Perhaps it's Germany's way of punishing us in the UK for last night's embarrassment!

Re: Announcement from Magix about Vegas14

Looks like maybe the "international" customer list didn't get transferred, or had to be treated differently than the "US" lists? Perhaps different regulations on email? I know the one notice I got seemed to be worded to make the transfer "all legal", along with an opt out for anyone not wanting to be "on the list".

I can't imagine that Magix would have purchased the Sony assets and left behind the international customer list/user base... but...

Dave,
Have a look at my origin. It is outside the US. So if the cought me on the list, they should also have cought people from GB, even after last nights Brexit.

Just got my first email from Magix yesterday. I couldn't even think why. Then I remembered that years ago I registered a copy of Acid Pro 3.0. It must be a really deep database!

I use G-Mail and my inbox is segregated into primary, social, and promotions tabs. At first I thought I wasn't getting the announcements about Vegas, but then I realized I seldom checked the promotions tab and sure enough that is where they were.

Now that was funny :))

I don't know where they got my info from but yes I have received an email from them.

Now were you a Brexiteer or a Remaninian?? That may answer any questions.

It will not be before september, that versie 14 will be available, so, you have some time to find out, why you have been overlooked.

If you know the Bible, you'd know what it says about magic.

I think I'll be looking for a new editing program.

Of course it is 'Magix' not 'magic'...but even so, the word can be legitimately used without the slightest reference to the occult...

+1 ron.

i find magix's approach to registered users a bit haphazard. one would have thought it was simply a matter of getting scs's database (which they've got) and doing a mail out?

not happy with progress so far....

I've always loved MAGIX software, glad they are taking over Sony Vegas.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't change the familiarity of the program ! I don't want to learn everything again ... keep it the way it is now, just ADD more features to it.

I've just received a mail out from Magix for my Vegas 9. so it may just be a case of them processing the data and matching the mail shot.

Don't fret. Many others have had this email whilst still having VP13. Most likely working through the Continents and the alphabet. North America and Canada got them earlier in the month. Got mine two days ago.

However, why am I and "others" getting the offer anyway? Makes no business sense. Or simply that the database isn't filtering correctly.

Dave Baker July 22nd, 2016 01:22 AM

Re: Announcement from Magix about Vegas14

Well, I got the offer on the 20th. of June and I haven't used Vegas in years, I got as far as Pro 9.

Make of that what you will.

Re: Announcement from Magix about Vegas14

Unless there are many hundreds of thousands of Vegas users we are unaware of, I find it hard to believe that in this day and age it isn't possible to email everyone simultaneously, with tailored content according to, for example, products owned or products on earlier versions eligible for upgrades. I suspect they've just either inherited a crap database or they've messed it up.
