Watch out for windows update

Vegas pro 13 will crash on start when you install the latest windows 10 update!!! Update version is 1607 or the "anniversary" update, so be careful....

Not seeing that here, Jurgen. (Vegas Pro 13 build 453). Maybe something else causing the crash?

A Lightworks user had an issue with this update, the effect seems to vary from machine to machine, although it seems most people didn't have an issue . I gather it was an extremely large update, unfortunately, it seems you need to have W10 Pro in order to stop the auto updates.

Re: Watch out for windows update

I have the pro edition of windows 10 on a dual cpu 36core xeon. I think the update changed the driver of the graphics card and that was causing the crash because even reinstalling vegas didn't solve the problem. It's a Quadro K5000. After I changed the driver back to the one from nvidia, vegas fired up again. Unfortunately in a panic reaction I bought the vegas14 suite update because this version did work with the windows driver....

No crashing here with V13 with Anniversary update.

Re: Watch out for windows update

We built an editing PC with Windows 10 for a customer and he called the other day complaining that a plug-in that he uses in Premiere stopped working. Turns out that a Windows update replaced the nVidia driver with a generic driver, so he lost his OpenCL support that the plug-in needed to run. Not cool Microsoft!

Re: Watch out for windows update

I had the same issue on win 10 as Edius requires a specific driver for quicksync to function, after a windows update quicksync didn't work anymore, not sure where I found the info but there is a way to prevent windows from updating specific drivers, once I made that change windows leaves the driver alone with every update.
