PC, these specs, graphics card confusion

Hi all, i'm on the verge of getting a new pc for vegas, i pretty much know what i need/want but i'm a bit confused with the graphic card requirements and all the current model numbers, ie AMD or Nivida, CUDA or open CL etc.
I'm lookin at this pc, (specs below) which seems to tick most of the boxes, i'm just not sure about the graphics card, if it's no good then can someone recommend an alternative card up to about £150.
I'll be running 2 monitors.

vegas alone, other nle, gaming as well?

general consensus seems to be for rendering nothing works as well as obsolete 5800. as for tl either gtx1080 or rx480 and work your way down from there re budget.

Hi Paul,

Sounds very similar to the one I had built a few months back, detailed in an earlier thread. SImilar processor, mine was the 4 core 8 thread I7, basically the same graphics card and same ram. Price was almost identical with the same OS.

I had it built to run footage from my 4K cams which it does beautifully. Much faster than the older system with no stuttering or long processing times.

I'm currently looking at another build, someone i know looked at that build and wasn't that impressed.
I've now been quoted this, minus the graphics card, which i'll pick myself, then it's on me. Most builders don't know about the vegas/nvidia issue.

Hi Paul,

A caveat here, I wasn't aware there was a problem with vegas and Nvidea cards as I use Magix ProX7.

If you have got the money, go for the higher spec, although I am not convinced that it offers much advantage over the other one as the CPU, ram and OS is very similar. Windows 10 pro I don't see really what advantage it would give you with editing over 64 Home, maybe others know more. My system runs cool without an expensive cooler system. Don't know what advantages that ram would offer over the other and the extra 3TB of storage is always useful, but can easily be added to any system.

I suppose you pays yer money and makes yer choice.

Well the first spec i posted, that was without a 2nd drive for storage and that graphic card costs about £60 so i doubt that's gonna cut it, so by the time i add another drive for files and a £200 card i'm looking at near £1200, thats about the same price as the 2nd build, which is apparently better, built by a friend of a friend so i'm trusting him.
The motherboard from the 2nd spec can take 32gb ram i've been told, so that might be handy for the future.

I had my system built by a local company I have known and trusted for years, so I sympathise with your point of view. Like myself, you will be able to go back to someone you trust in the event of any problems and of course you can arrange to have it built without the usual bloatware that you get with named brands.

The H110 chipset in your list is the bottom of the 6th generation i7 series. The i7 6700k will overclock...the H110 chipset doesn't support that. There are comparisons between the z170, H170 and H110 chipsets online that clearly show the many differences. If you do decide to go with the H110 mobo, you could go with the regular i7 6700 (not the "k") and save some bucks/pounds.
Is there a specific reason you chose a micro motherboard over a standard ATX size? Just wondering, as I'm currently building a new system (6700k & z170 ATX motherboard for the extra expandability) to replace my ancient box.

I'm not that PC savvy, just know how to use them.
Are you saying that the first build is better ?
Chipset ? You mean motherboard ? The first build is better ?
I haven't purposely picked micro case, in fact i prefer a full size case.
Hmm, i think i'm gonna have to rethink this ?
Would you go for the first build and add the extra drive and better card ?

Ok, so currys retailer is my last resort, mainly because the customer service and warranty is a joke but would this off the shelf build be better ?

I can't comment on the editing per se since I don't use Windows, but the Pro version of Windows 10 allows you to turn off all the spyware and delay updates until a convenient time. I know because I had to do it for my wife recently.

as an aside, i really don't see the point of not installing or upgrading to win 10. i'm not a fan of m$ but all new software, etc., is generally tested on and for the latest os at the time. i realise if you have an existing setup under 7 (or even xp) you might feel it unnecessary upgrading, but if things start going weird for no apparent reason, (other than graphic drivers), you might well be fighting a losing battle with progress....
