missing presets with boris please help

Hello

I have vegas 6 and i just brought boris FX 8 as an add on to vegas, i have installed it but when i start vegas and click on transitions then click on boris FX and then under presets the only preset it has there is one called default nothing else. would someone like to tell me if i am doing something wrong here? Because i thought this app was suppose to come with hundreds of presets as standard. And so far the only one listed there is one that says (Default) and when i drag that onto the timeline that brings up another window which is the Video Event FX window and if i click on the arrow pointing down next to it where it says untitled, it has no presets listed there. now if i click on options in the Video Event FX window then that brings up the timeline in boris, but i thought this program was to add hundreds of presets to vegas like the ones that come pre installed

Please see screen shots below

Add the "Default" preset and then go in to edit that preset. It will open Boris where you can use any of Boris' presets.

Hello edward

do you mean i have to drag the default preset onto the timeline in vegas and that will open up Boris and from there i can add the presets? if this is the case when i do this this opens Boris but i thought it was as simple as just dragging the effect you want onto the timeline like the ones that are already in vegas. do i have to use Boris it self to do the editing of the preset or can this be done all in vegas?

Yes, drag the preset to the event. Then you'll use the Boris interface to adjust the effect.

Hi

So is there any way to add the presets into vegas from boris so i don’t have to keep opening boris to do the work? how do i get all the presets into vegas like the ones that come pre installed? basically the sort of thing i want is when you add the effect you get a simple slider that comes up that allows you to adjust the effect to how you want it, i find boris a bit difficult to use as it doesn’t seem to offer this. do you know of another app that has the same sort of capability as boris or another app that has lots of effects like rain, snow, smoke, that sort of thing that can plug-in into vegas and can be adjusted by simple sliders?

Hello

does anyone here know of another program that can do the same as boris effects, or tell me where i am going wrong?

thank you

Heroglyph will add presets in Vegas.

Barry James January 15th, 2006 09:58 PM

thank you for getting back to me edward

so this app will add presets to vegas like rain, snow, smoke and more?

Edward Troxel January 16th, 2006 08:39 AM

It will let you save your "title" as a preset that can be dragged directly to the timeline. As for rain and snow, it's been a while since I've looked at it but I don't believe it has those (I could be wrong, check out their demo). However, it DOES give lots of control over how words appear, leave, and a ton of other neat things. I talked about an older version in Vol 2 #5 of my newsletters.

Hello edward

i have heard that rain, smoke, snow, and these kind of effects can be created in vegas do you cover this in any of your newsletters? or know of any plugin for vegas that can add this to it. Vol 2 5 of your newsletter is this what you cover? sorry if i have miss read what you have said

That newsletter talks about an earlier version of Heroglyph.

Barry James January 17th, 2006 11:03 PM

do any of your newsletters cover any of the above effects in a step by step guide?

I haven't written anything on rain, smoke, or snow. You might take a look at Particle Illusion as well.

Hi edward

here are to great videos created in vegas and this is the sort of thing i want to do but to find out how its done you must pay on the site. but dont really see the point in me paying for something i am only going to use once.
